SBS and the Cambridge University Swiss Club

Casper Pullen-Freilich, President of the Cambridge University Swiss Club

Every year, as exam season descends on Cambridge, a group of Swiss students face one of the most demanding periods of their academic lives — far from home, in one of the world’s most pressured university environments, with finals that will shape what comes next.

This year, the Swiss Benevolent Society wanted to be there before the papers began.

In partnership with Casper Pullen-Freilich, President of the Cambridge University Swiss Club, SBS sponsored a pre-exam breakfast for Swiss students at Cambridge. Around thirty students gathered over Swiss food, familiar flavours, and the kind of conversation that only happens when you are surrounded by people who genuinely understand your situation — the distance from Switzerland, the particular intensity of Cambridge, and the quiet weight of carrying both at once.

The Cambridge University Swiss Club is an important part of how SBS connects with the next generation of our community in the UK. Casper and the club’s leadership do remarkable work in keeping Swiss students connected to one another and to their identity during years that can otherwise feel isolating. This breakfast was a natural expression of that partnership — and one we hope to build on.

To the Cambridge Swiss students sitting their exams right now: your resilience, your discipline, and your willingness to pursue something difficult far from home does not go unnoticed by this community.

The Swiss Benevolent Society is proud to stand beside you.

You have got this. And carry on.
